christian x, king of denmark, was disturbed by the sight of a nazi flag flying over a public building during the german occupation of his country. he called the german commandant to demand that the flag be taken down. the commandant refused, threatening that any soldier who tried to remove the flag would be shot.
“ i think not, ” said the king, “ for i shall be the soldier. ” he was subsequently imprisoned for taking down the flag.
丹麦被德军占领期间，丹麦国王克里斯琴十世见一幢公共建筑物上挂纳粹旗，中心不怿，召见德军司令，他把旗除下，那司令不答应，并警告说，去除旗的士兵会被枪杀。

国王说：「我不相信，因为我会做那士兵。」他把旗除了下来，即遭囚禁。
【解说】disturb除了解作「打扰」，还有「使人不满或忧虑」的意思，例如：he appeared disturbed after reading the letter （ 他 读 信 后 ， 看 来 心 情 恶 劣 ） 。
i think not, for i shall be the soldier 一 语 中 的 for ， 是 连 接 词 （ conjunction ） 而 非 介 系 词 （ preposition ） ， 意 思 是 「 因 为 」 。 然 则 for 和 because 、 as 有 甚 么 分 别 ？ 按 这 三 个 字 都 可 解 作 「 因 为 」 ， 一 般 通 用 ， 例 如 你 可 以 说 ： i think not, because / as i shall be the soldier 。 语 气 上 ， as 比 较 随 便 ， for 比 较 庄 重 ， because 则 适 用 于 任 何 场 合 。 文 法 上 ， for 和 as 、 because 有 一 点 不 同 ： for 带 出 的 原 因 可 以 独 立 成 句 ， as 、 because 则 不 可 以 。 例 如 ： i think not. for i shall be the soldier 。
