on 21 february 1940, hitler ordered general mikolaus von falkenhorst to prepare for the invasion of norway. given britain's overwhelming naval superiority, the scheme would require careful planning, deception, speed, and surprise.
von falkenhorst, disguised as a businessman, visited norway on a reconnaissance mission. he began asking questions about the nation's military transportation and communication infrastructure.
was von falkenhorst's cover blown by his penetrating questions? not exactly: indeed, so flattered was one norwegian officer by his interest in the norwegian military that he gave the supposed businessman a private tour of his base.

【 附 注 】 德 文 姓 名 常 带 von 字 ， 那 其 实 是 介 系 词 （ preposition ） ， 等 于 英 文 of ， 意 思 是 「 … … 的 」 ， 所 以 不 用 大 写 。 mikolaus von falkenhorst 即 「 法 肯 霍 斯 特 家 族 的 米 科 劳 斯 」 。
blow 俚 语 解 作 「 破 坏 」 ， 例 如 ： his folly blew his chance to escape （ 他 的 愚 蠢 行 为 ， 使 他 失 去 了 逃 跑 机 会 ） 。
