少 女 和 大 兵
george pickett, confederate general in the us civil war, once marched his soldiers through greencastle, pennsylvania. as the band played "dixie", a young girl rushed out of her house waving a us flag. then she called out with all the strength of her brave young heart: "traitors ─ traitors ─ traitors, come and take this flag, the man of you who dares!"
general pickett took off his hat and bowed to her, saluted her flag, and then turned facing his men, who, feeling his unspoken order, each lifted his cap and cheered the little maiden. though she kept on waving her flag, she ceased calling them traitors, and cried out, "oh, i wish - i wish i had a rebel flag. i'd wave that too."

美 国 内 战 期 间 南 军 将 领 乔 治 ． 皮 克 特 有 一 次 行 军 经 过 宾 夕 凡 尼 亚 州 格 林 堡 ， 乐 队 奏 南 方 军 歌 《 狄 克 西 》 ， 一 个 少 女 忽 然 从 房 子 跑 出 来 ， 手 执 美 国 国 旗 挥 舞 ， 凭 一 颗 年 轻 勇 敢 的 心 ， 高 声 喊 道 ： 「 叛 徒 ， 叛 徒 ， 叛 徒 ！ 是 有 胆 的 男 子 汉 ， 就 来 拿 这 面 旗 吧 ！ 」
皮 克 特 脱 下 帽 子 ， 向 她 鞠 躬 ， 并 向 她 手 上 的 国 旗 敬 礼 ， 然 后 转 过 身 ， 对 士 兵 。 那 些 士 兵 感 到 他 没 有 说 出 口 的 命 令 ， 纷 纷 把 帽 子 举 起 ， 向 那 少 女 喝 采 。 那 少女 虽 然 继 续 挥 舞 国 旗 ， 却 不 再 叫 他 们 做 叛 徒 了 。 她 喊 道 ： 「 啊 ， 我 希 望 ─ ─ 我 希 望有 一 面 叛 军 的 旗 ， 拿 和 国 旗 一 起 挥 舞 。 」
【附 注 】 dixie 是 美 国 南 部 各 州 的 俗 称 。 内 战 前 ， 美 国 南 部 一 家 银 行 的 十 元 钞 票 上 印了 法 文 dix （ + ） 一 字 ， 所 以 南 部 诸 州 叫 dixie 或 dixie land 。
