古德明《征服英语》之英语军事故事，古德明，香港英语教育作家，他开了一个《征服英语专栏》，在专栏中专门用英语写了世界近代史上的军事小故事，用英语讲述历史中那些惊心动魄的战争。

during world war Ⅱ , the famed british magician jasper maskelyne was enlisted by the allies to set up a camouflage unit in egypt. he built an army complete with tanks, soldiers and pot-bellied officers out of canvas and wood, radically boosting the apparent size of the british forces.
in 1941, ordered to disguise the entire port of alexandria, maskelyne built a model of the city. each night, the model was lit up while the real harbour was shrouded in darkness. as german bombers zeroed in on the model, explosives were set off to enhance the illusion. each morning, the decoy was covered and phoney debris was scattered throughout the real port, convincing spies and passing planes that the bombing had worked.

as a result, alexandria suffered little damage and remained in allied hands.

一 九 四 一 年 ， 马 斯 基 林 奉 命 把 整 个 亚 历 山 大 港 隐 藏 起 来 。 他于 是 做 了 一 个 亚 历 山 大 港 模 型 ， 每 天 夜 幕 笼 罩 港 口 后 ， 那 模 型 城 市 就 亮 起 灯 来 ， 德国 轰 炸 机 来 袭 时 ， 还 会 引 爆 炸 药 ， 使 假 象 更 为 逼 真 。 每 天 早 上 ， 当 局 会 把 模 型 遮 蔽起 来 ， 而 亚 历 山 大 港 则 会 撒 满 假 的 败 瓦 颓 垣 ， 使 间 谍 和 掠 过 的 飞 机 以 为 轰 炸 得 逞 。
因 此 ， 亚 历 山 大 港 受 到 的 破 坏 不 大 ， 德 军 始 终 未 能 攻 取 。
【 附 注 】 famed 即 「 着 名 的 」 ， 和 famous 意 思 、 用 法 相 同 ， 只 是 没 有 famous 那 么 通 用 。
