一九 一 四 年 ， 德 国 巡 洋 舰 埃 姆 登 号 功 业 彪 炳 ， 大 名 藉 藉 ， 不 列 颠 以 及 整 个 英 帝 国 家 喻户 晓 ， 甚 至 有 广 告 商 利 用 其 辉 煌 成 就 。 例 如 商 船 印 度 河 号 运 送 一 百 五 十 箱 肥 ， 途 中 被 埃 姆 登 号 截 查 。 一 分 印 度 报 纸 其 后 刊 登 这 段 古 怪 广 告 ： 「 德 国 巡 洋 舰 埃 姆 登 号 无 疑 得 悉 印 度 河 号 运 载 一 百 五 十 箱 西 北 肥 公 司 着 名 幸 福 牌 肥 ， 遂 追 逐 于 海 上 。 埃 姆 登 号 全 体 人 员 及 其 衣 着 ， 现 皆 清 洁 芳 香 ， 实 幸 福 牌 肥 之 力 也 ， 君 胡 不 试 之 ！ 」
【 解 说 】 elysium 是 希 腊 神 话 的 极 乐 世 界 ， 是 行 谊 高 尚 者 死 后 的 归 宿 ， 常 用 来 比 喻 无 上 的 幸 福 ， 例 如 ： the sycophant was in elysium when the dictator shook hands with him （ 那 奴 才获 独 夫 握 手 ， 高 兴 极 了 ） 。 留 意 船 、 飞 机 、 星 等 的 名 字 须 用 斜 体 标 明 ， 例 如 ： the titanic sank in 1912 （ 铁 达 尼 号 一 九 一 二 年 沉 没 ） 。
