国云亡,心未死(英中对照)

penalties for joining the resistance were severe throughout nazi-occupied europe. in october 1941, for example, 48 people were shot at chateaubriant(1) in revenge for one assassinated german colonel. interrogation at the hands of the gestapo might include beatings with truncheons, electric shock treatment or the dislocation of limbs.
however, the resistance achieved some spectacular results. in 1943, for example, a party of nine men attacked the norsk hydro plant in norway, destroying its tanks of heavy water, which were needed in german experiments to make an atomic bomb.(2) when the occupiers tried to move their last supplies of heavy water to germany, the ferry carrying them was also destroyed-- and with it all hitler's nuclear ambitions.

在纳粹党占领的欧洲,加入反德组织,会招来重刑,例如一九四一年十月,夏多布里昂有四十八人遭枪毙,算是给一个被暗杀的德军上校报仇。盖世太保鞫讯的手段,有时包括警棍毒打、电击或令四肢脱臼。
不过,反德组织也有些辉煌战绩。例如一九四三年,九个汉子袭击挪威水电集团工厂,毁了厂内箱子盛着的重水,而德国须用重水试制核子弹。德军想把仅余的重水运回德国,但运送的渡轮也遭摧毁─同时毁灭的,还有希特勒制造核子弹的美梦。
