古德明《征服英语》之英语军事故事，古德明，香港英语教育作家，他开了一个《征服英语专栏》，在专栏中专门用英语写了世界近代史上的军事小故事，用英语讲述历史中那些惊心动魄的战争。
人 性 灭 绝
though many red army soldiers were captured by the nazis during world war ii, stalin refused to swap prisoners with the germans, declaring that "there are no prisoners of war, there are only traitors to the motherland".
when stalin's oldest son yakov, commander of an artillery battery, was captured in 1941, stalin was offered a trade: the return of his son for the release of a german general. stalin rejected the offer. in 1943, yakov, suffering from nervous depression, threw himself on the prison camp's electrified barbed wire. he died almost instantly. a guard shot him four times, but he was already dead.

第 二 次 世 界 大 战 期 间 ， 不 少 红 军 被 纳 粹 德 国 俘 虏 ， 但 史 达 林 拒 绝 和 德 国 交 换 战 俘 ， 声 言 「 没 有 战 俘 这 回 事 ， 只 有 出 卖 祖 国 的 叛 徒 」 。
一九 四 一 年 ， 任 炮 兵 连 司 令 的 史 达 林 长 子 雅 科 夫 被 俘 。 德 国 向 史 达 林 提 议 ， 以 雅 科 夫交 换 一 名 德 国 将 领 。 史 达 林 拒 绝 了 。 一 九 四 三 年 ， 雅 科 夫 患 上 精 神 抑 郁 症 ， 把 身 体撞 向 战 俘 营 通 了 电 的 带 刺 铁 丝 网 上 ， 当 场 死 去 。 一 名 守 卫 向 他 开 了 四 枪 ， 但 他 其 实已 经 死 亡 。
【 附 注 】 swap 是 「 交 换 」 的 意 思 ， 英 式 英 文 还 可 拼 作 swop 。 这个 字 多 用 于 较 随 便 的 英 文 ， 严 肃 的 文 字 宜 改 用 exchange ， 例 如 ： i swapped / exchanged my axe for his sword （ 我 用 斧 头 换 他 的 剑 ） 。
史 达 林 当 年 不 但 拒 绝 赎 回 儿 子 ， 还 下 令 拘 捕 儿 媳 ， 令 孙 女 成 为 孤 女 。 史 达 林 的 女 儿 后 来 也 不 得 不 逃 亡 西 方 。
