战火的亲情(英中对照)

战 火 的 亲 情
during the revolt of the netherlands against spanish rule, two spaniards, brothers, who were never able to meet although they had for a long series of years sought each other, at last accidentally came in contact at the siege of bommel, where they served in two different companies. being unknown to each other, some little explanation made their relationship known, when they fell on each other's neck. while they were thus locked in an affectionate embrace, a cannon ball took off both their heads, without separating their bodies, which fell clasped together into the arms of death, who thus summoned them away in the happiest moment of their lives 。

荷 兰 起 事 反 抗 西 班 牙 统 治 期 间 ， 有 两 个西 班 牙 人 分 属 兄 弟 ， 在 邦 梅 尔 围 城 战 中 意 外 聚 首 。 他 们 多 年 来 都 在 寻 访 对 方 ， 只 是从 来 未 能 见 面 ， 当 时 分 别 隶 属 两 个 连 ， 由 于 素 不 相 识 ， 经 简 单 解 释 之 后 才 明 白 彼 此的 关 系 。 他 们 互 相 拥 抱 ， 亲 亲 切 切 搂 在 一 起 ， 忽 然 一 枚 炮 弹 飞 来 ， 把 他 们 的 头 都 轰掉 了 ， 但 他 们 的 身 体 没 有 分 开 ， 相 抱 倒 进 死 神 怀 。 死 亡 就 在 两 兄 弟 一 生 最 高 兴 的 一 刻 把 他 们 召 去 了 。
【 附 注 】 荷 兰 一 五 六 七 年 开 始 反 抗 西 班 牙 殖 民 统 治 ， 到 一 六 四 八 年 才 告 功 成 。
to fall on one's neck 直 译 是 「 倒 在 某 人 脖 子 上 」 ， 指 亲 切 拥 抱 的 样 子 ， 例 如 ： he fell on his wife's neck and kissed her many times before he got on the plane （ 他 上 飞 机 之 前 ， 搂 妻 子 ， 一 再 亲 吻 ） 。
